Ruins of the Church: "San Cesario alle Prebende"
According to local tradition, the body of San Cesario, after suffering martyrdom, was buried in a place in the Terracina’s valley in one place said in “Agro Varano” because it belonged to a wealthy family in Roman times, the Vari (Gens Vara) that converts to Christianity A Basilica dedicated to the Saint was built on the site of the burial entitled “Santa Maria ad Martyres”. This was the first and most important place of worship in Terracina since first moments of the affirmation of Christianity in the city and around it church quickly grew a cemetery from the Roman era. This is because, obviously, the Terracinese wanted to be buried near the their Saint. This church, at the end of the Middle Ages, begins to decline and all that is left of itare the traces of the wall you see in this 3D graphic placed in the South-East direction. Around the remains of the church, in a green area but surrounded by palaces, is located still a vast necropolis that from Roman times was used until the late Middle Ages.
