More model informationWhen I saw this manhole cover from the San Marco neighborhood in Jacksonville, I couldn’t help but model it!
But why a winged lion? The square was named for the Piazza San Marco in Venice, which features lots of lions - the symbol of St. Mark. During the area’s renovations in the 1990s, the San Marco Preservation Society choose the lion as the symbol for the neighborhood, constructing a large fountain with three lions.
(Maybe in a few years, I’ll have the skills to model the fountain! 😆)
