Burghead Promontory fort: inner wall
Burghead Promontory fort is the largest known Pictish fort in Scotland. In 2018, excavation of a section of the bank that surrounds the promontory revealed the inner wall face of this massive bank. It survives nearly two metres in height. The small section revealed up to four horizontal wooden beams running along the face of the wall with an additional four wooden beams running through the wall core, linking the inner and outer wall face.
