More model informationA pass glass was used to offer a drink to the people in a pub. The glass was passed around and each had to drink in a single move to the next mark (deep blue lines of glass). If you missed the mark, you had to drink until the next mark. As most pubs were also serving food (such as pancakes) and most food was eaten out of the hand (no forks yet), the lower part of such decoration improved the grip of greasy hands on the glass. Typically, you wil see only one pass glass in a pub. Pass glasses are depicted on many 17th century paintings and in the Boijmans - van Beuningen museum you will find a good example.
