More model informationSMZ’s are established on sites to help retain natural stream side environments, as well as trap sediment runoff from adjacent areas. These areas are regulated and have to a specific buffer distance away from the stream, depending on the geological area. In this case a UAS was used to map part of a regenerating timber stand to ensure proper SMZ’s were put in place. Since the 3D model can be spatially referenced through ground control points, accurate measurements can be conducted to ensure SMZ uniformity across the entire site.
