"El Lanchon" model
Preliminary model of “El Lanchon” site, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. “El Lanchon” is “the barge” – it was used as a landing/pier/jetty by local people for many decades and is now a prominent landmark and popular fishing location. We currently believe it represents a major portion of a “dump barge” or “dump scow” used in the digging of the Panama Canal. Research is ongoing.
This was our 2nd photomodel – and our first photomodel to happen in the field. We learned a lot about what to do, and what not to do during data collection.
We collected data with 4 cameras and processed four separate “chunks.” In the end only 2 chunks would merge. These were from the Canon PowerShot D10 camera and the Fujifilm XP camera (442 total photographs).
This is also my experiment with a direct-from-Photoscan-to-Sketchfab upload. The mesh had to be decimated from over 9,775,879 million faces to around 5,000,000 million faces to get under the 200MB upload limit. So some downgrading of quality has occurred.
