John Mitchell was an Admiralty Steam Drifter deployed on mine work along the south coast of England. On the 14th November 1917 it collided with the steamer SS Bjerka and sank about 10 miles SE by E from Anvil Point (TNA: ADM137/578). All crew survived.
The wreck was recorded on June 24th, 2015 as part of the HLF Forgotten Wrecks of the First World War project by the Maritime Archaeology Trust.
