JUPITER’S ALTAR. Carrara marble. Neoattic workshop in Rome. Late 1st Century BC. Circular altar in honor of Jupiter, depicted as an eagle. It was situated in the frons pulpiti (stage front) of the Roman theater. It was later reused as construction material in late antiquity. It’s part of a set of three circular altars dedicated to the Capitoline Triad.
ALTAR DE JÚPITER. Mármol de Carrara. Taller neoático situado en Roma. Finales del s. I a C. Altar circular en honor a Júpiter, representado como un águila. Cumplía una función de culto en el frons pulpiti (frente del escenario) del teatro romano. Fue posteriormente reutilizado como material constructivo en la tardoantigüedad. Forma parte de un conjunto de tres altares circulares dedicados a la tríada capitolina.
