Audi R8 FSI No2
The Audi R8 FSI prototype is one of the most successful sports-racing cars ever built. It won the 24 hours of Le Mans five times, from 2000-2002, and again in 2004 and 2005.
From its 3.6 liter, 90-degree V8 twin-turbo engine, it was able to produce somewhere between 520 and 625 horsepower, depending on tune and regulations. In any particular Le Mans race, it weighed 909 and 957 kilograms, depending on fuel and ballast. For comparison, the average American vehicle weighed around 1,850 kilograms in 2003.
This No. 2 R8 was on display at the Lone Star Le Mans, the sixth round of the World Endurance Championship, on Sept. 17, 2016, in Austin, Texas. Audi also won the six-hour endurance race that took place that day, this time in its Audi R18 e-tron quattro prototype.
