Orthostat 43, Knowth Western Tomb (Stone)

Orthostat 43 is located in the largest megalithic tomb (Tomb 1 West) at Knowth, County Meath, Ireland (ME019-030001-). It is decorated with incised and picked lines. This is the backstone of the tomb. The main design on the stone comprises a set of seven squared arcs opening downwards, and set one inside the other (boxed). These occupy almost the whole of the surface of the stone and are picked in wide, ribbon-like lines.
