These assets were made for a driving game I am creating with some friends. The car was to be used as the player’s vehicle and for some of the AI vehicles so I needed to keep the poly count fairly reasonable and was limited to three materials for the entire thing.
It took me 4 weeks to create this diorama scene. Despite being a first person/cockpit view game, I chose to leave the interior somewhat bare because other artists on my team wanted to work on the fine details of the interior.
I used Maya for modelling the high and low poly of my car. For the props I used Blender. For texturing I used Photoshop and Substance Painter.
I usually use Blender for modeling so for this project I wanted to delve into using Maya for the first time for my hero asset.
I was asked to create this car in modular pieces by the leader of our project so that it could be damaged and the doors/bonnet etc could fall off.
Special thanks to Shaun Keenan from CG Tuts who had a really awesome Maya car tutorial!
