Cunaide Stone, Hayle
Possibly 5th century, this badly damaged and eroded stone lies embedded in a wall within the “The King George V Memorial Plantation” opposite ASDA and Jewsons. The faint inscription with wheel cross at the top, obscured by lichen and very worn, can be read across the stone. It probably reads HIC IN TVMVLO REQVIEVIT [–] CVNAIDE HIC [IN] TVMULO IACIT VIXIT ANNOS XXXIII (according to Macalister).
