More model informationThe cast-iron bust of Russian Emperor Peter the Great was manufactured by order of Olonets mining chief A. A. Fullon. The Emperor was also the founder of the city of Petrozavodsk, that is the reason why he is held in respect in this area. In 1824 the Governor of Olonets province A. I. Rychlewski managed to install the bust in Petrovsky garden on the stone, on which, according to the legend, an altar of field church of Peter the Great had been situated. After the revolution in 1917 the bust of Peter was removed and it was presented to the public in 1964 in “Martcialnye Vody” health resort. Now the bust is one of the showpieces in the National Museum of Karelia (RF).
