More model information

I made this photoscan of my house two years ago using VGA resolution video frame grabs from the built in camera on a $50 quad copter. This was an experiment in “how bad could it be”. The results, while not stunning, aren’t actually complete rubbish. The images all aligned just fine and the scan, although not terribly presentable, actually has a rough resemblance to the subject. If I knew better how to pilot the quad copter that would help a lot. Assuming a competent pilot could make a capture equal to the quality of the best areas of this scan, it might actually be a useful tool for some low quality or high risk work.

We talked about this scan on the 3d printing today podcast
