More model informationVindolanda, Northumberland for the Vindolanda Trust. Aerial-Cam recording of excavations, the local area and significant finds such as carvings and altars, are carried out twice each year during the digging season. The main model from November 2015 created via UAV photogrammetry, enables an understanding of the excavation locations in relation to the different parts of the site. the Fort and the vicus trenches are then shown in more detail from photogrammetry at closer range using hand held mast mounted cameras. The vicus trench contains the surviving timbers, in the waterlogged conditions, of the earliest phases of Roman occupation at the site, just south of Hadrian’s Wall.
