More model informationThe virgin and Child, about 13th century, painted wood, Brøns Church in southern Jutland. National Museum of Denmark (Copenhagen, Denmark). Made with Memento Beta (now ReMake) from AutoDesk.
Heavily cleaned oak figure with only faint traces of the original chalk ground and polychromy. In contrast to the other figures of the Virgin Mary on display, the lines of this figure are more softly medelled and unsymmetrical - both characteristics of wood sculpture in the 1300s.
