More model informationExperimental 3D model showing excessive levels of plough damage over a 5 Ha field generated using 417 images gathered using a DI Phantom 4 Pro. Plough damage resulting from deep cultivation is the biggest threat to buried archaeology in agricultural landscapes. In this case the contrasting black and yellow stripes result from the plough bringing underlying yellow natural sands and gravels to the surface, the dark stripes representing the extant plough soil which has been turned by the plough. The introduction and mixing of so much sterile sand into the ploughsoil will ultimately compromise its fertility and structure.
