Knapton Wold Grave 2 stage 7
Burial in Iron age flat Grave prior to lifting. The grave had been badly disturbed by animal burrowing leaving much of the skeleton in situ but loose - notice the voids within the spine. Despite appearances the bone was very fragile and liable to splintering if left exposed for any length of time. Generated with Agisoft Photoscan Pro with avearaging textures switched off which is why the ground surface around the grave is patchy; the concern here was to get the best possible texture on the burial itself. The Sigma SD Quattro H with the Sigma 20mm 1.4 DG HSM lens produced the extraordinarily detailed images used to calculate and texture this 3D model producing a record that is both more detailed and informative than could be achieved using conventional drawing methods - clearly there is the potential to combine 3D models of this quality with interpretive drawings as a way of combining new recording modes with more traditional approaches.
