More model informationA mid to late medieval reveted well, measuring 3.80m x 4.50m and 1.58m deep, was found during the recent excavation at RAF Brampton in Huntingdonshire. The well was located in an area peripheral to medieval settlement. The remaining structure consisted of ten stakes and ten planks. A range of stake styles were used, rectangular fashioned from the trunk of a tree and complete and semi-complete branches. The planks showed evidence of re-use possibly from cart backs or flooring. The southern most planks and staked had been removed prior to deliberate capping of the well sometime in the late medieval or the early post medieval periods.
