More model informationGuan Yu (K. Kan’ u, d. AD219) was a Chinese general and one of three great military heroes during the Han period (206 BC - AD 220). Worshipped as a god of war, Guan Yu was a popular subject for prints, paintings and netsuke throughout the Edo period (1615-1868). There is a variant of this netsuke made of wood in the British Museum.
