More model information“This monument is in the shape of a lekythos, but the foot and tall narrow neck are now missing. The decoration shows an older man shaking hands with a younger man who wears a broad-brimmed hat, and is accompanied by a horse, a small slave and two dogs. This type of scene is often seen on grave reliefs, and usually shows an old father saying goodbye to a dead adolescent son. However, in this case it may be the older man who has died, because the inscription naming the dead person ‘Hegemon of the Epikephisian deme’ is carved above his head.
