Hollow eye sockets were for a precious stone or metal inlay. The surface would have been highly polished and possibly overlaid with precious metal. From the seventh-century BC a vast number of bronze figurines of deities were produced in Egypt. Realistic statutory was common in the Late Period and fine metalwork used gold, silver and bronze.
