More model informationThis fractured metatarsal was once thought to be osteomyelitis, an infection of the medullary cavity caused by pus-producing microorganisms that reach the bone through injury or the bloodstream. However, upon x-raying the bone, we found the callus to actually be a healed fracture rather than evidence of osteomyelitis.
