Probable small ships boiler, Birling Gap, Sussex3D Model
This is the first citizEn science 3D model for the CITiZAN project. The images used to create it were captured by one of our fabulous volunteers and then processed by the team in London using Agisoft Photoscan. We would like for other volunteers intersted in using photogrammetry to help us to record and monitor our eroding coastline before features like this are lost for good. Given the position of this probably boiler on the foreshore there are only a few tidal windows each year to get up close and draw and survey the boiler using traditional methods, so for our project photogrammetry is proving itself to be a very useful tool in capturing a huge amount of information about a site in a very short space of time. This record can be used to supplement other information captured using our CITiZAN app and during our survey sessions on the foreshore.
Is it a boiler? We think it looks like one but if you have any other ideas we’d be very intersted to hear them! Get in touch at citizan@mola.org.uk
