More model informationThese scans document the steps in making a Viking axe the traditional way. The forgings were made by master smith James Austin of http://forgedaxes.com/ who teaches traditional axe making in the United States and Norway. We have been working together to use one of the world’s newest technologies to document one of the world’s oldest.
This step shows how the lugs are drawn out using a fuller tool. The fuller was digitally modeled based on Jim Austin’s drawings. The anvil is a Peter Wright from my scan collection.
