More model informationThis is Trix she is a Tyrannosaurus Rex that lived 66 million years ago in what is now Montana, today you can visit it in the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre. I scanned the actual T.Rex skeleton for the Naturalis museum, it took me about 2 weeks to scan all the seperate bones and 1 more full day to scan the overall fossil. The post-processing took a lot longer. Everything is scanned using a Artec EVA.
To fit this model on the site it had to be simplified a lot! The original bones are all scanned with a resolution/accuracy of around 0.3 mm. All the data combined is about 400 GB.
Obviously this 3D model is not as cool as the real fossil, so visit Naturalis
