The individual SRP98 6775 is a female with an age category of 26 - 35 years old, from Period 14, dating 1100 - 1200. From macroscopic analysis of the skeletal elements present, she suffered from multiple healed trauma in her cranium as well as her upper limb bones. The trauma sustained was very well healed & the fractures in her arm bones followed a pattern found from the site analysis of females having a higher frequency of arm fracture. The skeletal remains of this female were found during excavations of Spitalfields market (1991 - 2007) which revealed the remains of over 10,500 individuals excavated in 1999 -2002, from the medieval period on the site of St Mary Spital. An Augustinian priory & hospital founded in the 12th century, with the hospital becoming one of the largest in Europe. Over 5,000 individuals were analysed & a comprehensive publication was produced providing detailed information by Museum of London Archaeology, Monograph 60.
