The journey on “La Bestia”: An emotional cartography based on the Film “Which Way Home”

The two-sidedness of a freight train; on the one hand, as a horse on whose backs migrants travel through South and Central America to the US border with the desire for a more fulfilling life. But also, the beast that ruthlessly follows its path along the rails and carries death with it. We want to follow the journey of the people on the “La Bestia” based on the documentary film “Which Way Home“ and we want to study it with emotions, which we understand as the expression of the experiences during the Migration. We examine the individual stages along the journey in their socio-spatial complexity. For the background of our Story Map we have made a doll and pasted it with various map cutouts of South and North America.
