This project was the end-of-the-year project for the course ARTHIST 290 The Medieval Castle in Britain taught by Professor Matthew Woodworth at Duke University. Our team consisted of John, our architect, Luke, our engineer, and Yifan, the building manager/historian. We decided to construct a nonexistent but historically accurate castle and chose Faversham, England for its location. It is an Edwardian castle of the mid fourteenth century.
A note from the instructor: The students in this class had very little or no 3D modeling experience when they entered the class. The class was divided into teams of three or four students who could choose either to model a real medieval castle or to create an imaginary castle authentic to the medieval period in Britain. John, Luke, and Yifan created this model in SketchUp under the guidance of Andrea Giordano and Cosimo Monteleone (University of Padua) and Hannah Jacobs (Wired! Lab, Duke University).
