More model informationAn artefact from the Museum of English Rural Life. This elm wood chamber candlestick, with a side handle, was made by the bowl turner George Lailey, of Bucklebury. George Lailey turned wooden bowls using a pole lathe in his hut at Turner’s Green, on Bucklebury Common, until 1958. The donor used to visit Lailey frequently in the 1930s, and saw him make this candlestick. It was used by the donor in Reading until it was donated to the museum in 1978.
