Historic Lantern Base

This historic lantern base was discovered while the MSU Campus Archaeology Program 2018 summer field crew was conducting excavations along the banks of the Red Cedar River. It is a metal duplex burner for an oil lamp with a dial that has a patent mark of 1865!
