Wreck Strömstad 21 in Strömstad , Sweden.3D Model
The municipality of Strömstad has applied for permission to build a bridge close to the shipwreck RAÄ Strömstad 21 in Bojarkilen, Strömstad. The County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland therefore made a decision that an archaeological investigation had to be performed. The Swedish National Maritime Museums (SMM) performed the investigation in December 2016.
SMM’s investigation shows that the wreck is highly fragmented. The area with the majority of the ship’s parts starts about 5–10 meters east of the ferry crossing over Bojarkilen and continues 30 meters east. The area with the ship’s timber is about 30×15 meters in size. The shipwreck is estimated to be from the early part of the 19th century.
