The rock church of Lama d’Antico is one of the biggest of the entire Apulia, and it looks like a built-up church because of its interesting architecture excavated into the limestone.
The church is made of two naves, the main one wider and taller, whilst the second one is smaller and narrower; both of them are covered by barrel vaults, and separated by means of pillars, and end with two apses. Along the perimeter walls of the church, there are 24 niches running from a rock bench.
The main phase of the church can be dated to the 12th century AD because the painted decoration (frescoes).
