This model is from an excavation in Gårdby church, Öland county, which was performed in 2014-15. The 19-th century church was built around the medieval church and much of the old building materials such as stones from the walls were reused in the new church. Also the rafters from the old church were reused as floor joists. This led to a dendrochronological age determination of the wood material. The result of the analysis shows that Gårdby church was founded sometime in the period 1115-1130 AD. All 22 graves, from the nave and choir, were excavated and are now being analyzed. The foundations of the old church will remain under the new floor which is under construction.
This model was photographed and processed by Johan Stenvall, Linköping office, and from approx 520 photos.
