More model informationWhetstone holder recovered from the wreck of the Mary Rose. Nineteen whetstones were found, two with wooden holders. 14 were found in or between the Surgeon’s and Carpenters’ cabins which were close to each other on the main gun deck. This is made of poplar and is decorated with panels of incised cross-hatching. It has a triangular handle, and a convenient cut-out so that a finger can be inserted to access the stone.
