Drumcliffe High Cross, County Sligo, Ireland.
In the 6th CenturyAD St Columba (Com Cille) founded a monastery here at Drumcliffe. The only visible remains of the monastery are the base of a round tower, this High Cross and fragments of other high crosses.
This decorated High Cross is carved in relief from sandstone, it currently stands to 3.83 metres high although it would have once been a little taller as there is a socket in the top of the cross for a finial.*
The carving depicts a variety of biblical scenes including the Crucifixion, Presentation at the Temple, Daniel in the lions den, Adam & Eve, Cain & Abel, Virgin & Child (unique on an Irish High cross). Other areas are carved with beading and Celtic Knot patterns.
-*I’ve been unable to find any descriptions that mention the socket in the top - but it can clearly be seen in the model.

@Victor.Colon.Cruz previously this and many dozens of my other models were downloadable for free with creative commons attribution non-commercial licenses. Unfortunately some people just download, do a bit of rework, then upload them for sale across every online marketplace for 3d models, usually without attribution. Very few of my models are currently available to download for free, I don't have the software or skillset for refining models to go in the store.
this is such an amazing model! incredible detail too. btw will it be up for download by any chance? <3
@te3donie
great scan!!
@dhlab 415 photos were used in the model, although I was bracketing exposures to maintain detail in shadows and highlight areas which upped the number of photos a little.
Looks amazing! How many photos you did?
