Masaajidka Isbahaysiga, Mogadishu Central Mosque3D Model
‘The Mosque of Islamic Solidarity” this was constructed in 1987 with financial support from the Saudi Arabia. It is the main mosque in Somalia’s capital city Mogadishu, and an iconic building in Somali society. Following the start of the civil war in the early 1990s, the Mosque was closed. It was later reopened in 2006. Funds were raised from the business community for intended renovations of parts the building. In 2015 the Federal Government of Somalia completed the refurbishments on the mosques infrastructure.
This is part of an ongoing project looking at some of the most important buildings in Mogadishu. These buildings stood still during the war and have now turned into some of the buildings have now turned into well-known ruins within the city. The 3D model can be accessed anywhere, anyone with the internet. Once finished we will envision the future of Mogadishu using current trends in the economy, politics, and other major factors.
