Artist’s rendition of the planned Chinese Space Station

China seeks to enhance its capacity for scientific and technological innovation by building a large modular space station. China’s leaders also hope that research conducted onboard the station will support their long-term goals for space exploration, including missions to the Moon and Mars.

This model draws from currently available information. When completed, the station’s basic configuration will feature a core module and two experiment modules permanently docked opposite each other in a T-shape structure.
