More model informationThese large pots (as the one found in Ename) were used for storing dry food such as wheat, beans, barley, … They also could be used as cooking pot. The shape of the rim allows to close the pot with a cloth or leather sheet, both for storage and for cooking. For storage, a standing ring made from straw was used. Archaeological traces (p. 222) however show that these pots also could be closed with a ceramic lid.
