More model informationThis is a specimen of a thorny devil walking stick (Eurycantha horrida) from the Cornell University Insect Collection. The thorny devil is a species of stick insect (Phasmatodea) found in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea. They range in size between 12 and 14 centimeters, and can be shades of green or brown. They are nocturnal and wingless, and live mainly in trees, shrubs, or on the ground. Males, like the model specimen, are generally smaller, darker, and thinner than females, with a large spike on the femurs of their hind legs.
