Red Tank 3D Model
This is a version of the tank model with the Albedo and Roughness-Metallic maps generated in 3DCoat instead of Quixel.
I use 3DCoat a lot for handpainted stuff, but much more rarely for PBR materials, so I wanted to see how quickly and easily I could surface a model whose Normal maps had been already generated elsewhere.
It took a morning to paint the model in 3DCoat, with base albedo map imported in from photoshop.
Additionally I wanted to play with some of the features on Sketchfab that I don’t normally use, such as the Clear Coat function, which is why the model is shiny and has more post-processing effects on it.
I created a clearcoat Intensity map by inverting the Roughness map and upping the contrast in Photoshop.
I found 3DCoat actually much more intuitive and user friendly than Quixel for creating PBR maps: the procedurally generated rust looks quite nice in particular.
