Hi, my name is Daniel Sklar. I’m the man behind the 3dhdscan profile on Sketchfab. I have been working in CG for over 17 years. I’ve had the opportunity to work on many wonderful projects and would like to share my experience. I have been working with photogrammetry since 2014 and it’s become quite a hobby. I’ve always wanted, like a 3d modeller, to achieve the best possible credibility and to get as close to reality as possible. Modern photogrammetry fulfilled this dream for me!
I would like to show everyone how easy it is today and decided to try capturing one model each day for at least half a year. I plan to make several video tutorials with my workflow along the way. These videos will cover topics such full closed and textured models, using a DJI-Spark drone for photogrammetry (geological processes visible in a quarry, big sculptures), indoor photogrammetry and macro photogrammetry. Stay tuned and watch my profile on Sketchfab and my website.
This video is a record of my photogrammetric workflow – at the end we will have a beautiful, fully closed, textured and optimized 3d model of pumpkin. It’s a step-by-step guide for beginners – just in time for Halloween 🙂 I usually use these programs: RealityCapture, Instant Meshes, 3DS Max, Unwrella plug-in, Marmoset Tool Bag, Photoshop, and, of course, Sketchfab.
The in-depth video walks you through all the steps:
- photographing an object
- reconstructing a 3D object
- optimizing 3d
- baking textures
- optimizing textures
- uploading and setting up a scene in Sketchfab.
Thanks Daniel! Be sure to check out more of Daniel’s work on his Sketchfab profile and website.
