About me
Hello. My name is Artur. I live in Russia. 3D graphics was just a hobby, but then it turned into work. I’ve been doing 3D graphics for about 8 years now. Now I work as a 3D artist at a company engaged in VR projects (simulators). In my personal work, I try to use different styles (realistic, lowpoly style, cartoon).
Inspiration
The first thing that inspired me is a 2D illustration by my wife.

This picture is quite popular on the Internet. Immediately it presented the technique I would use when creating the model.
I knew that I would upload this model to Sketchfab. I saw there many works in a similar style, and I was inspired by them.
Process
Software: ZBrush, 3ds Max, RizomUV, Substance Painter, Sketchfab
I started by sculpting in ZBrush. It is not a very complicated model, but I wanted to accurately convey the shape of the original image.
In ZBrush I did automatic retopology.
In 3ds Max I made the rest of the items for the cat (helmet, boombox, etc.).
I did the UVs in RizomUV, which is a very good program. Recommend.
I copied all the geometry and made it a little bigger. I flipped the normals for the outline effect.
Next step, I textured the cat in Substance Painter.
Sketchfab
Finally I uploaded and configured the cat on Sketchfab.
Sketchfab has very cool features to make models look better.
For the background, I used a sphere with flipped normals and a cosmos texture.
The lighting is one bulb attached to the camera. I used the “Milky way” environment for reflection in the helmet glass.
And I added some post effects.
Done!
Thank you Sketchfab for the opportunity to write about my work.
