Sketchfab is Joining the Epic Games Family

Back to overview

I am excited to share that Sketchfab is joining the Epic Games family! You can read the official announcement here.

Almost 10 years ago, we started Sketchfab to make 3D content accessible through the web. We launched the first web-based 3D player on the market, and became one of the leading services for publishing and finding 3D content. Our community is now 5 million strong, and we are proud of what we have accomplished together. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our community, our customers, our partners, our investors and our team: we wouldn’t be here without all of you.

We will remain an independently branded service with the same mission and vision, while working closely with Epic Games. We started collaborating with Epic earlier this year through an Epic MegaGrant, and are excited to accelerate those efforts. We are also already integrated with various Epic Games products like RealityCapture and ArtStation. We will maintain and expand our integration efforts with all creation tools and 3D/VR/AR platforms, so you can easily upload to and import from Sketchfab everywhere.

Lower fees for our Sellers

As part of our shared goal to make Sketchfab’s offerings more profitable to creators, we are reducing Sketchfab’s store fees to 12%, effective immediately.

Sketchfab Plus is now free

We are also making all the Plus plan features free, which means more uploads and larger file size at no cost. Current Plus customers will be automatically upgraded to our Pro plan at no additional cost, with the option to downgrade to free if they wish to do so. We also increased the number of monthly uploads of Pro plans from 30 to 50. Finally, we will also be retiring the Business plan, and migrate current Business plan customers to our enterprise level features, at no additional cost. You can read more about those changes in our dedicated FAQ.

I’m looking forward to this next chapter with you!

Thank you,

“Time to look for an alternative”.
Oh no, they made everything cheaper and paying creators better! How dare they.

  • Jack3d says:

Will Sketchfab become more integrated with Epic’s other services like Megascans, Quixel and Unreal Asset Store?

  • Peter S says:

Congrats Alban and the entire Sketchfab team. This is great news for creators and for advancing 3D everywhere.

  • Eric J Claeys says:

This is awesome. Congrats to the Sketchfab folks! I know not everyone will agree (especially Unity folks) but I love that Epic is financially backing art communities – effectively giving them more support/funding plus reducing seller fees and dropping/reducing premium plans.

  • BUKKBEEK says:

Could you please do something regarding the payment options. Currently my region (Sri Lanka) does not have accessibility to PayPal accounts. Thanks.

  • Alex says:

    Congrats guys! This is great

  • Thales says:

Hope you won’t leave Steam Workshop support

I would say … time to dump all low quality assets (incl. the founders iPhone Captures 😉 I can not import in Unreal5 and render realtime in hyperreal quality. CONGRATS & all the best for the future journey. As long as you stick to your values and support art & culture (now maybe even more) I am fine.

  • Jorgebunny says:

Unreal seems to be doing a good job. I’ve been with them for a while.

Them for a while. Maybe two years

I don’t see no problems with.

Furthermore I buy some o their stuff it help my.

Like yesterday, I got something from Unreal.

Turrets for my spaceship. So It on Unreal so Awesome.

Well, Congratutions Unreal.? What would be your next you look at

  • Quazar says:

Not sure what to make of this; on the one hand, yay more support for the artists and free reign on uploads! On the other: ew huge companies getting even huger while smaller, already solid services lose independent control – I’ve lost too many beloved sites to this already yo 🙁

  • william says:

we need a 3D tool that programmer can use. I am a single programmer and I can not hire an artist.

  • Josh Purple says:

    Excellent news and Congrats ?????!

  • Marc Gauvin (Warsoul) says:

Look like i have an issue with the Basic Plan. Still got only 1 upload per month until 14 august 2021.

Nice move by the way, the custom background limitation is really annoying on the basic version, maybe a limitation of 2 custom background would be better but that’s really a good news for the Sketchfab user.

We still waiting for particle effects and animated textures inside Sketchfab 😉

    Keep the good work !

  • yaelm says:

The free 100MB limit is awesome !
Also free annotations and 10 upload/month are cool

  • Cascade says:

Why are so many people upset? Even if they would sell your data to China, they already have it without you knowing.
Anyways why are u so scared, that a multi-billion company has your Alias and E-Mail adress? As if they don’t already have it.
Anyways, congratulations to you, Sketchfab-Team and everyone benefiting from this great change

  • NANnnn says:

How can I delete my account?
I see the “Delete Account” text in the account settings isn’t working..

  • Patrice says:

    Bravo à tous…

Can we have more detail about the clause 4.2.1 ?
It seem to be unclear for most of the users what it lead to and why Sketchfab need that to operate.
