More model informationBuilt by Dundee boatbuilder David Brown Livie jun. (1847-1902) for the 1878 Paris International Exhibition. This model was completed in December 1877 and was displayed in Dundee’s Kinnaird Hall before going to Paris. It was awarded a bronze medal at the Paris Exhibition and, in November 1878, was displayed at the Science Museum in South Kensington, London. David Brown Livie’s son Braithwaite recalled in an undated letter that the wood used for all of the Livie models was sourced from a Norwegian vessel that the family boatbuilding firm had been working on.
