The Olympic Torch from the 1952 Summer Olympic Games, held in Helsinki.
This torch was made in silver-plated brass, with the silver finish having been worn off with age. The particular design of this torch was easy to replace, and only 22 torches were needed to be created, far fewer than the usual amount. The torch is inscribed with “XV Olympia Helsinki 1952” and “Helsinki Helsingfors”, the Olympic rings, and a wreath. The torch was carried from Olympia via Athens and to Aalborg via plane, where it was carried by runners, cyclists, and rowers to Copenhagen. Originally, the torch was to be carried through the Soviet Union, however issues of diplomacy prevented this.
This torch is on loan to the Hellenic Museum as part of the ‘Flame of Olympia’ exhibition.
This model was compiled from 394 colour-checked images in Agisoft Metashape.
