A unique experience, But hard to get to and officially closed. Archeological site of the Temple of Apollo. An area of important significance in Ancient Greece. Little is known about this town and temple which makes it more interesting. It is largely undisturbed since antiquity, although there has been a discovery of ancient graves (3500 BC), a medieval castle and an old church. Even the goat herders hut on this uninhabited island is apparently from the 19th century.
The main site is closed and should be respected to ensure the dig is undisturbed and as a matter of law. The area around the site where you can view the temple and digs is difficult to get into and requires getting in the water to go around the fence. If you can get into the area around you’ll also find shards of pottery and marble from ancient times on the ground. Again, all must be left behind.
