More model information19th Century Whaleboat on display at the Old Prison in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. The boat is under the care of the Lahaina Restoration Foundation (LRF). Originally built in New Bedford, Massachusetts, it was used for whaling in the Artic. In 1871, the boat was part of a large whaling fleet that got caught in the ice. The boat survived the ordeal and was acquired by a Iñupiaq man in Barrow Alaska. The LRF then obtained the boat in 1973 and transported it from Barrow to Lahaina.
