More model informationTomb stone (formerly a floor slab, now standing upright) for abbot Philip O’ Molwanayn, one of the abbots at Kilcooley Abbey. This funerary monument is standing against the interior north wall of the chancel of the abbey church. It depicts the abbot and symbols of the passion, but also the vine leaves the stone carver Rory O’Tunney was so fond of on the right side (his left).
John Hunt gives the inscription as “HIC JACET PHILIPP’ O’MOLWANAYN QUONDAM ABBAS HUJUS LOCI CUM SUIS PARENTIBUS QUI PLURA OPERA BONA SPIRITUALIA & TEMPORALIA FECERUNT QUORUM ANIMABUS PPICIETUR DEUS ANNO DOMINI MCCCCLXIII” (1974, vol. 1, 227-8)
