The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (“Arrow”) was a World War II heavy fighter constructed by the Dornier company. The two-seater trainer variant was also known as Ameisenbär (“anteater”). The Pfeil outperformed other twin-engine designs due to its unique “push-pull” configuration and the significantly lower drag of the two engines being aligned in line. The Luftwaffe was keen to put the design into service, but delays in engine supply meant that only a few were delivered before the war ended.
